Q.

Persistent dry cough

My 85-year-old friend has been coughing day and night for 8 months. Allergies were ruled out and she was taken off Lisinopril. Night time coughs stopped but she continues to cough during the day. Her "throat doctor" prescribed her with medication to treat acid reflux but no change in the symptom. In addition, she has no other GERD symptoms. What other specialist do you recommend she consults?

This is a complex and difficult problem.  I suggest she consults a pulmonologist (respiratory physician).
