Dear Talitah, the single most common cause of lower back pain is a torn or pulled muscle and/or ligament. You, however, do not make mention of any injury and one must then consider some other cause. Some other common causes of lower back pain include:

-        Ruptured or herniated disc

-        Sciatica

-        Arthritis

-        Kidney infections

-        Infections of the spine

-        Not common but could possibly be cancer of the spinal cord

Advice is that you visit your doctor to have your lower back pain investigated. Pain is a sign that tells us that something is not right. It should be possible for your doctor to determine the cause of your lower back pain after he/she has conducted a thorough physical examination and possibly some additional tests as well. (MCH).
