Dear Anonymous

There is no specific diet for someone diagnosed with gastritis, however, the following are important if suffering from gastritis:

·        Do not smoke

·        Do not consume any alcohol

·        Avoid caffeine containing substances, e.g. coffee

·        Avoid carbonated (fizzy) drinks

·        Avoid fatty foods

·        Avoid fried foods

·        Avoid spicy foods

·        Avoid fruit juices that contain citric acid

·        You are free to eat high-fibre foods such as whole grains, non-acidic fruits, vegetables and legumes (beans)

·        Rather eat low-fat foods, such as fish, and lean meats

(MCH).
