Q.

Sore Breasts

Hi. I have sore breast’s, mainly the left one, for a week, now. It is sometimes stingy, sometimes a muscular sort of pain. I checked for lump’s and lymph node’s under the armpit’s and neck and there is nothing. Made an appointment to see the Gynecologist, wanting to ask your opinion in the meantime.

Dear Anonymous, you made the right decision by arranging for a doctor's appointment immediately. If you are concerned, contact your doctor and explain to him/her of your concern with a request for expediting the appointment. Any persistent pain in one or both breasts is not normal and should be investigated. It is difficult to provide an opinion with limited information. It is important that you, in future, make sure that you have a mammogram every year. Also, whenever you visit your doctor, always ask that a clinical breast examination form part of your consultation. (MCH).
