Dear Vikmit, thank you for your comment. I am very sorry to hear that your friend was diagnosed with cancer. Yes, it is so that there are many individuals around that lived very 'healthy' lives - who never smoked, never ate junk food, always worked out, etc. It is impossible to prevent cancer, one can only lower one's risk for getting cancer. One must always remember that there are many carcinogens (cancer causing chemicals and substances) in the environment that could increase one's risk for getting cancer. It is not only what we put on our bodies, and what we take into our bodies that are the only causes of cancer. There is also the possibility of inheriting some faulty genes which could eventually lead to one being diagnosed with cancer. Each individual is also unique in his/her makeup. What may be something that acts as a strong carcinogen (something that can cause cancer) for a certain individual, may not be a strong carcinogen for another individual. We must never forget about carcinogens in the environment which we cannot see, hear, feel, touch, taste, etc., which may be responsible for increasing one's risk for cancer. (MCH).
