Back Pain

I get severe, burning, lower back pain when I walk or stand.

It eases once I sit or lie down. I try to take a daily brisk walk but after 4 or 5 days I have to give it a break for 2 or 3 days before I am able to attempt my brisk walk again. From time to time something pinches in my back and I am in total agony for a few days but I don't know if that is related to the daily discomfort?

Hallo Lulu,

Your history, and personal factors are unknown, therefore, I answer in general - and not for you individually.

Our muscles follow the posture that we adapt every day (and night). For example: If you sit most of your working day, travel in a car, exercise on a bicycle, and sleep on your sides, chances are big that your muscles will shorten in the front of your body.  After a few years, you can describe the symptoms that you have.

What can be done in this situation? Stand up to walk, and stretch backwards for 2 min - every 20 min of each sedentary day. Walk more during your days, sleep on your stomach and focus on maintaining a good posture.

If stiffness was causative to your symptoms, things will change for the better - in a few months.
