Question

Q.

Concerning having an MRI.

Is there any possible way I could be put completely out to have an MRI. I am 74 yrs. old and female. Have tried and cannot do an MRI. I have a back problem and feel certain they will require one again. I am totally claustraphobic 100%...can endure pain, shots, etc. but not closed in one of those.

I share your claustrophobia and used to dread having an MRI, but my back issues have made it necessary to have 4 or 5 of them. The key for me is to simply cover my eyes so that I can't see how closed in I am. I just have the nurse or technician put a towel or something similar over my eyes, and ever since I started doing that, I have been OK and reasonably comfortable in the machine. Probably not for everyone, but works for me!
