Take action:
Don’t keep a family pet or make sure the animal stays out of the asthmatic’s bedroom; wash bedding once a week in boiling water to get rid of dust mites; remove all carpeting; opt for wooden rather than upholstered furniture; use poison traps to control stray cockroaches; stay indoors when the pollen count is high; clean mouldy surfaces; don’t allow smoking in your home or car; and minimise exposure to wood-burning stoves, perfumes and strong chemical cleaners.
