Several treatments are available

The most effective is Colchicine, but it may cause diarrhea and vomiting.
Voltaren injection and / or tablets would also help.
Occasionally, prednisone tablets may be needed.
Finally, the joint can be aspirated to look for crystals and cortisone can be injected into the joint directly.
