  1. Eet ysterryke kos soos vleis (veral beeslewer), eiers en heelgraan- en ysterverrykte kosse. Ertjies, bone, hawermeel, pruimedante en vye bevat ook yster. Stoom groente sodat hulle hul ysterinhoud behou.
  2. Swangerskap dreineer yster uit ’n mense se liggaam. Jou dokter sal waarskynlik ’n ysteraanvulling van 30 mg per dag voorskryf, en meer as jy bloedarmoedig is.
  3. Neem vitamien C of ’n glas lemoensap saam met ysterryke kos om die meeste daaruit te haal.

  • Borsvoed jou kind minstens ’n jaar lank, of  gee hom anders ysterverrykte formulemelk. Ná ses maande moet babas twee tot drie porsies ysterryke kos per dag kry.
  • Koei- en bokmelk is laag in yster; gee die kleintjies liewer spesiaal-bereide kindermelk.
