  1. Eiers verhoog cholesterol.Feit: Eiers bevat baie cholesterol, maar verhoog net een uit drie mense se cholesterolvlak. Kos hoog in versadigde vet is baie gevaarliker as kos met baie cholesterol.
  2. Vette verhoog cholesterol.Feit: Net versadigde vette is sleg vir jou cholesterol. Onversadigde vette – soos in avokado’s, olyfolie en neute – verhoog jou “goeie” cholesterol en beskerm jou hart.
  3. Kos kan nie cholesterol verlaag nie. Feit: Sommige superkosse – soos vetterige vis, okkerneute, hawermout en margarien wat met plantsterole versterk is – kan jou “slegte” cholesterol help beheer.

  • Loop lig vir produkte wat as cholesterolvry geadverteer word. Die meeste kossoorte – behalwe eiers, orgaanvleis en skulpkos – is in elk geval cholesterolvry. Lees die etiket – baie “cholesterolvrye” produkte is gelaai met veel gevaarliker versadigde en transvette.
