Hospitals are notorious for stripping people of their clothes and their dignity, and patients may feel embarrassed at what happens to them. On the operating table a patient may feel very vulnerable and exposed. You should know, however, that doctors and nurses are very respectful of your dignity. Your body is only uncovered as much as is necessary, and only really exposed once you are asleep.
The staff will never comment on your physical attributes, will never ridicule you and will always respect your body. Medical people become very objective about their work and your body becomes merely an object on which a job of work has to be done. Nevertheless they are always mindful that you are a human being with sensitivities and feelings. This is an understanding and trust between healers and patients, and in the operating room this is particularly sacred.
