You are responsible for settling your account for the anaesthetic directly with your anaesthesiologist. You should discuss the costs and terms of settlement with him or her prior to the anaesthetic. If you have any queries regarding any items on the account you should contact him / her directly to clarify the matter.
The commonest complaint is that the anaesthesiologist has charged for a pre-operative consultation that consisted of not much more than a “good morning”. However do remember that your anaesthesiologist will have made enquiries about your medical condition from the surgeon and your medical notes, and will have seen the results of your special investigations before he /she sees you.
Nevertheless you are entitled to time to discuss matters with him / her and any areas of your health, which are in doubt, deserve a proper history and examination.
