Q.

How can I fix discoloration on my shoulders?

Hi, I recently got a pretty bad sunburn on my shoulders and it started peeling. Because I have anxiety I have been picking at it, and there are now large discolored patches on my shoulders. From where I peeled the skin, the skin underneath is much lighter than my back. Will this lighter color match back to the tan? Or what are some ways that I can help my shoulders heal and return back to the same color?

It is possible that the sunburn damage to the skin has been complicated by a low grade fungal infection called Tinea Versicolor. This may need to be treated with an anti fungal shampoo called (ketoconazole) Niz shampoo. Try not to scratch the skin by taking an antihistamine to allow the skin time to recover.
