Q.

Blood testing for allergens

If my total igE is within normal limits (8.2 kU/L) and my screen for paediatric foods is 0.05 kU/L and screen for inhalants is 0.09kU/L (where < 0.10 Below reliably detectable limits), do I still need to do any further testing ie for dustmites and grass etc? I have chronic hives and i believe it may be idiopathic/spontaneous.

With your allergy blood test result, you do not have an allergy to house dust mites or grass pollen. Chronic Spontaneous Urticaria (Chronic Hives) is usually caused by an underlying autoimmune trigger and not caused by an environmental or food allergy. Very often blood testing does not identify any trigger for the urticaria and we treat the condition symptomatically until it goes into remission.
