Worried –  Pleeeease Help with medication

Good day,

My daughter is 8 years old and in grade 2. She has been diagnosed with ADD. The treating specialist has put her on Ritalin, that we had to take her of after four weeks due to bad side effects, and she is currently on Conserta. I have now learned of Bio Strath nobody told me about this product. My question to you is do you think I must try this natural product before I continue with the medicine?

Thank you.

Dear Lanie,
Bio Strath is ultimately a supplement, intended to boost our daily intake of vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids. Improvements in concentration have been noted, however, it is not intended as a replacement for other medications. Having said this, though, natural supplements can be very beneficial for thos individuals whose symptoms are not severe. It would also depend on the severity of your daughter's symptoms. Consult your GP about the benefits of using both.
Kind regards.

I am 20 years old. Diagnosed with ADD when I was 13 years old. I been of and on concerta and ritilin. Ive battled my way through school and I am now a 3rd year student at a unerversity studying bachelors degree in pure and applied chemistry. Yes moms thats rigth. I know how mums of ADD kids feel and often think their kids are unaware. Concerta did help me great deal. I just want to reassure moms not to despair because there is something about ADD people. A hidden genius as sometimes known. Trust me, your ADD kids have a burning desire to succeed. Just give them the space. They neva give up.

Thank you all for your response. Its just so hard and like Mari said you try and do the right thing but how do you find out what that is. I don’ t want to end up giving my child medication and ten years from now find out it wasn’ t really necessary.

After a lifetime of ADHD and restless legs, diets &  supplements had only transient benefits for me. Ritalin was 100% effective. But after some years, I found a diet of fresh meat and vegetables and water to be the only thing that is more effective than ritalin. Get rid of toothpastes, colourants, herbs, dairy, grains and any beverage besides water. ' Treats'  and certain beverages can be added later, in moderation, and their effects observed. Sure, It' s a tough diet at first, but after a while it bcomes the only way. Oh, and no supplements. None. The body reacts to excesses, but it can handle natural food quite admirably and then does not need supplements. Hope this helps.

I am so happy to read the same as what i feel/think. My son has been on methylphenidate since 4 and although the med' s are working 100% with him , i would like to do it the natural way as i am scared for the long term side-effects. lani, meg and nina , my thought with u!!! I am really trying very hard to do the right thing and i am sure u also!!!!!
have mailed adhasa support for some info. Do u know that website? as i know diet/food is also a factor , I am also trying to go organic with the food but there arent many resources??
Meg, would u mind if i give u a call. I am situated in Port Elizabeth.

Hi Lanie,
My 7yr old son is also on Concerta for a month now. Supplements like Bio Strath are great, as are the Omega3& 6' s, magnesium, zinc, VitB' s etc....I have used them all and the difference was marginal. Try it for yourself though because each child is different and degrees of ADD vary so it may be enough for your daughter.
I am still very anti the meds and am trying a number of alternate therapy' s to get to the cause of his issues. The meds are a temporary solution treating only the symptoms and help get them through the ' system' . They don' t address causes. I don' t want my son on drugs for longer than absolutely necessary!!!
If you want to call me so we can brainstorm together I don' t mind sharing what i know - 084 9678 177.

I might b wrong but I thought bio strath is jsut a suplement. My kids take it everyday. I havent seen a diference in the ADHD that my son has. He has been using Bio strath for more than a year and Ritalin for about 6 months. its good but I dont know if it will help. Try it with the medication.
