Good day, my domestic worker complaint to a lady she did piece work at that her son doesn' t want to sit still and do work, he just want to play outside. A docter precribed 10mg ritalin to her over the phone without even seeing the child! She asked me to collect the ritalin from the chemist...IS THIS SAFE??? I do not think so! Can you prescribe ritalin without examining a child? What if the dosage is wrong or she wants to stop the ritalin?

Dear Bredine,
This is absolutely NOT safe, and goes against standard procedure. Is the doctor who prescribed the Ritalin this child's regular medical practitioner? No medication can be prescribed without thorough knowledge of an individual's medical history.

Ritalin is a very dangerous drug. It is stronger than cocaine and will lead to depression, then the child will be popping more pills for that. There is a powerful force out there called the pharmaceutical and medical industries. They can only survive and thrive on people popping pills.

Would you give a puppy pills to calm him down when he is just simply being a puppy?

Try a ritalin yourself, you will be shocked.

It stunts growth, causes heart pulpitations, and can cause twitching. Stunts the development of the brain. Read the side effects. A cleaver word this industry uses, it should be " effects" .

The one common thing child and teenager suicides have is that these children have all been on anti depressants and a lot started off with ritalin. But let me rather not say anymore as the Doctor I work with exposed the truth about this industry and the big guys came in and trashed his clinic and he had to pay R150 000.00 in a court case and was nearly financially crippled. Bottom line he was told to keep his mouth shutt.

I would like to know how safe is ritalin? I' ve heard a lot of negative stories regarding the use of ritalin by children.

You cant prescribe Ritalin over the phone. That doctor is a quake.
Before a child goes on Ritalin they need a good examination.
Must make sure there is no underlining health problems etc.

Ritalin is a serious drug. The child must be monitared it can delay his growth can cause depression (especially if the dosage is incorrect.). I would tell your domestic worker to first see a doctor.
