My child forgets things all the time

My 10 year old daughter has a quiet, soft nature not hyper at all.
But forgets her books at school or at home almost every day.
And if I ask her to do more that one thing at a time, she forgets one of them. HELP. Please. Has she got ADD or is there something else wrong? What medicine can help her?

Dear Cheryl,
Although forgetting things is certainly one of the main symptoms of ADD, there are a number of other symptoms which must be present in more than one setting. Before any medication can be prescribed, a diagnosis of ADD needs to be confirmed by an educational or clinical psychologist. If you should choose to medicate your daughter please be aware of the many side effects that may be experienced such as loss of appetite and increased anxiety levels. You may wish to look into alternative treatments such as Dore which does not require a formal diagnosis and does not make use of any drugs. A change in diet may be beneficial, and/or ensuring she has enough sleep. It is also possible that there is something worrying her which may be keeping her mind preoccupied. It seems I have provided you with more questions than answers, and hope they assist you to get to the cause of the problem.
Kind regards.

My son is the same and amongst other issues, it has come down to the fact that he has hypersensitive hearing in his rt ear and his brain just says, ' too much info'  and shuts down!
He is also a quiet child and if I think back, the signs have been there for a while - prefers to play with only one friend, dislikes too much noise etc...possibly not the same but if it is, take her for an AIT assessment.
Good luck!
