how to know? where to get tested?

I don’ t know if I am add/adhd and really even don’ t know the difference between the two. I do have a uncle that was diagnosed for this. He explained to me what it all is about and I feel I have the symptoms however it might only be because the symptoms is very general. I' m 27 year old male, my occupations is in IT (Software development). I can’ t finish books, can’ t think clearly under stressed situations and tend make more mistakes. Sometimes mix up words in my sentences...I really don’ t pay attention to detail. I would focus on a scripture or paragraph of information and end up understanding it but can’ t explain in words (talk the buzzwords) although i know the words....

Because this field can so easily be mistaken/misdiagnosed can you please tell me where I can test myself or who can I go see? a telephone number or site would be great thanks.

Dear Want to Know,
The symptoms of ADD and ADHD are quite general, and we all experience them at some point or another. The difference is these symptoms are present all the time, not only in time of stress, and cause the person distress or interfere in their daily functioning. ADD and ADHD share the difficulty with attention; ADHD has the added component of hyperactivity which is an inability to sit still, wait patiently in a queue and often involves interrupting others while that are speaking. To be diagnosed, please contact the Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Support Group of Southern Africa at If you would prefer the name of a practitioner please let me know which area you are in and we can see how I can assist.
All the best,
