Concerta VS Ritallin

My son was on Strattera 40mg for a year and a half, but the pediatrician changed it to Ritallin 20mg LA in the moring and Risperdal in the evenings. It also only worked for a while, but now my son is almost back at square one. The Dr. is changing his meds to Concerta 36mg in the moring and Risperdal 0.5mg in the evenings. I heard that Concerta has a huge impact on a childs emotions, it makes them more aggresive. My son already is very aggresive, won' t this meds worsen it? Won' t it perhaps help to increase the 0.5mg Risperdal to a full tablet in the evenings? Please help, I have to pick up his prescription tomorrow.

Dear Lilly,
Has the same paediatrician been changing the medications and dosages? When last was your son assessed by him/her? Children taking stimulants should be seen by the prescribing physician at 6 monthly intervals to monitor the dosage. Concerta reduces aggression in some and elevates it in others; unfortunately there is no way to determine what the effect will be on your son prior to taking the Concerta. Risperdal is prescribed to reduce anxiety and can reduce aggressive tendencies as well; increasing this dosage may be dependent on the effects of the Concerta.
Kind regards,

My son was on Concerta although it didnt make him aggressive. It made him extremely moody. His dr put him back on Ritaling LA 20mg in the morning and the short acting one 10mg in the afternoon. I only give him the afternoon one, if he has a lot of homework or studying. Just to help him focus
