Q.

Need info on Neucon 18 mg

My son was on ritalin 10 mg LA and now the Dr placed him on Neucon 18 mg. I need more info about this new medication as I can not see any difference in his behaviour\ he has been diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia.

Neucon is a OROS system extended release methylphenidate...the easiest is to explain is to consider it short-acting Ritalin 3x/day but in one tablet. The mechanism of release is different form Ritalin LA and the duration of action also longer. Please discuss with you son's doctor. A review of the dose may be necessary if the current dose is not effective.
