Contramyl vs Ritalin LA

My 12 year old son is currently on and off Ritalin LA. He is currently on a 30mg dosage. The price of the Ritalin LA is R1300 pm, which is quite expensive and unaffordable, the reason for him not being on it all the time, we do not always have the money for it. I need to get an alternative to Ritalin LA and they said I must try Contramyl? Is this also long active, or does he have to take it twice daily? He struggles to drink a pill whole, so he usually opens the Ritalin LA capsule and drinks it with yogurt. He definitely has a concentration problem, especially his learning subjects. I need something for concentration. Please help

Contramyl is a multiple particle release system of methylphenidate and is a long-acting, once a day dosage. Please discuss with your son's doctor.
