Take action:
Avoid standing for lengthy periods of time; eat as little salt as possible (apart from eating less salt at the table, go slow on the cured meat, crisps, stock, pickles and gravy); take vitamin C – 1g per day; lose weight if you need to; put your legs up as often as possible to let the fluid drain away from the varicose vein; and consult your doctor if you're concerned – various treatment options are available.
