“The Award pays tribute to women who have achieved success in their respective fields, have made a difference in the broader South African community and have inspired others to follow,” says the official award website.
Members of the public were invited to nominate women whom they believe to be an achiever in any of the seven award categories. Chaired by High Court Judge, Lucy Mailula, the panel of judges, comprising 22 high profile South Africans, have selected three finalists in each of the Award’s categories of arts, culture and communications; business entrepreneurs; education; health; science and technology; social welfare; and sport.The three finalists in the health category are Dr Angela Mathee, Dr Carol Wynne Hofmeyr and Ms Thembekile Tshabalala.
