SPCA / Hill’s MuttWalk

The inaugural SPCA / Hill’s MuttWalk will take place on Sunday 25 March 2012 at 8am at the Field and Study Recreation Centre, Louise Avenue Parkmore, Sandton.

The inaugural SPCA / Hill’s MuttWalk will take place on Sunday 25 March 2012 at 8am at the Field and Study Recreation Centre, Louise Avenue (closest corner 14th Street), Parkmore, Sandton.

This is a family-friendly 5km awareness fun walk for animal lovers and their dogs - enjoy an outing with the canine members of the family whilst helping the Sandton SPCA to continue their vital animal welfare and educational work.

The cost per entry is R 50 per adult, R 30 per child (no charge for children in prams) and R 20 per dog, with all profits going directly to the Sandton SPCA.   The canine entrants will each receive a Sandton SPCA / Hill’s MuttWalk paw-print bandana and the first 1, 000 people to enter will each receive a ‘doggie’ (goodie) bag sponsored by Hill’s.  People who don’t have a dog are very welcome to join the walk; they can even buy a ‘balloon dog’ from Daffodil Concepts to walk for just R 25 (with a percentage going to the Sandton SPCA).

There will be water stations along the route as well as food stalls, lucky draws and children’s entertainment at the Start/Finish.  The Hill’s team will be on hand to answer your pet nutrition questions and the Sandton SPCA’s Mobile Clinic will be there to provide animal first aid.

“This is all about having fun for a good cause, so bring the kids and your dogs and enjoy a great day out knowing that you are raising much needed funds for the Sandton SPCA”, says Carla Bath of Hill’s who are sponsoring this year’s event.

An additional excellent reason to take part is that MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet have pledged to sponsor R10 for every dog registered for MuttWalk up to a maximum donation of R20 000 in total.

Participants should pre-register for the event (to secure your booking) though ‘walk-in’ registrations may be taken on the day of the event, if it is not over-subscribed.  To enter please contact the Sandton SPCA for a registration form (email spcasan2@gmail.comor call 011 444 7730)or visit (to download a form) as soon as possible to secure your doggie bag.
