Judges will be looking for the best-loved mutt at the eighth SPCA / Hill’s Township Dog Show at Ngcendemhlope Sports Field, Mafakathini, Howick (KwaZulu-Natal) on Sunday 15 May from 9 to 3pm.
It is South Africa’s biggest township dog show and gives ‘township specials’ their chance to shine.
Unlike traditional dog shows –where the entrants usually arrive by car, primped to perfection– the contenders at the uMngeni SPCA / Hill’s Township Dog Show might walk several kilometres down dusty tracks to attend.
Instead of promoting the breeding of pedigree pooches, this dog show actively encourages the sterilisation of every entrant.
The R5 entry includes a veterinary check, vaccinations, de-worm and dip, as well as a new lead, collar and Hill’s dog food.
For more info check it out on www.hillspet.co.za/Facebook or contact uMngeni SPCA’s Heather Somerville on 033 330 5299 / 082 378 2300 or email somerzet@iafrica.com. Spectators, volunteers and entrants are welcome!
