Why do black men get such bad ingrown hairs?

Black men have a really hard time when it comes to shaving. Their hair structure is such that it causes the worst ingrown hairs. Here's what you can do about it.


Our darker brothers often have a tough time shaving and suffer from extremely painful ingrown hairs that can cause bad infections and even scarring. The coil-like structure of black men’s hair means that hair often doubles back and re-enters the skin, resulting in razor bumps and ingrown hairs. The solution? Exfoliate your skin regularly, especially before shaving. You might have to use a sterilised needle or tweezers to remove the really stubborn ingrown hairs.
