In December last year the PR company for Skechers in South Africa threw a pair of Skechers GO Flex Walk™ shoes our way and since it seems just about everyone with a loose R1000 in their pocket was wearing them, we thought we'd try them out for ourselves.
Being the boss I got first dibs on them and they made their way to my home where they were met with "Oh wow Mom!" from my teenage daughter and a "What's this" from my husband.
So I explained to the latter that these are these new super comfy - but also hip - shoes that are stuffed with memory foam so it gives you a comfy fit.
As you walk, they flex and bend along with your foot with a wonderful cushioning feel. I love the idea of what they call 'Goga Mat Technology' - that gives your feet a yoga workout as you hit the tar.
Apparently (good) yoga mats bounce back once you've rolled off them, and this is the same with these Skechers - they bounce back all the time, no matter how hard you 'trap' them.

Here's the spiel from the marketing material: (yes, good use of adjectives and only a touch confusing)
"The Skechers GO FLEX Walk™ is the shoe that moves with you. Knitted upper with articulated, segmented flexible sole design. Designed with Skechers Performance technology and materials specifically for athletic walking. Goga Mat® Technology insole with high-rebound cushioning."
What I like about them
Being a shoe snob (owning about 30 pairs but only ever wearing about three of them), they have become one of the three.
What I like most is I skoff them off when I get home and if - and that's often a big if - I get the urge to go for a walk, I simply skoff them on again and go for my walk.
No hunting for sports shoes and matching socks and tying any laces. They have totally taken away one of my exercise excuses.
They are soft and comfy, mould to my feet and the grey pair I received match my drab wardrobe perfectly. I cannot imagine my life without them and should I lose them, I'll buy another pair.
What I'm not so sure about
They are not the prettiest shoes out there and they do remind me a touch of my Dad's Stokies (can you believe Woolies still sells them?).
In hot weather, I do get hot foot, and invisible socks only make this worse. So a slightly sweltering situation going on down there when the mercury hits the 30s. But otherwise, no sweat.
All in all a good and intelligent shoe! You have to love progress and technology. We recommend.
