Early this week, the head honcho of Virgin Active, Sir Richard Branson, and his son Sam Branson took some time off their busy schedule to have fun at the Rosebank branch gym.

A select number of people were invited to meet the tycoon, with a few work-outs organised for them.

The invited guests had to choose which class they fancied, among them the new Revolution spin class. The beat of the music is key, but the cool twist is the addition of dumbbells. The class was rad, and my obvious choice.

The Revolution classes will be rolled out to pilot studios in September.

At some point during the session, yours truly was utterly lost with some of the stuff the instructor was saying, but this did not stop me from enjoying the bike.

But then as the class carried on I realised that I was in the midst of newly signed-up instructors from some of the pilot studios.

It wasn’t long into the session that Branson and his camera crew joined in for a few minutes.

Branson went around the gym observing and taking part in some of the work-outs. I bet he was impressed by what he saw; I sure as hell loved it.

Father and son went on to challenge each other on the outdoor sprint track.

Branson later took to Twitter to say: “There comes a time in every parent’s life when they have to accept that their child is finally faster than them. Well, that time hasn’t come for me quite yet.”

Yeah right! In my books, junior is a good son. He totally let him win. Needless to say, many selfies were taken on that morning. – Mohau Mokoena
