Woman runs Two Oceans for charity

Isla Galloway-Gaul is a woman who is willing to work up a sweat for a worthy cause – raising funds for the Reach For A Dream Foundation in honour of a young man, Dean Walt, who lost his life tragically a year ago.

Isla will run the Two Oceans 56km Ultra on Saturday, 7th April, 2012, and is raising funds for Reach For A Dream in memory of Dean.  “I have known Dean and his family for many years and I have felt their pain through a loss of my own. I wanted to honour Dean’s memory so I challenged myself to pull out my old running shoes, and attempt something that would push my boundaries, the 2012 Two Oceans.” says Galloway-Gaul.

Dean was a caring, fun loving, mischievous boy who loved to play naughty pranks on friends and family and who had a unique brand of romance! Dean lived each day with passion, and was thrilled and proud to have been selected as a 2011 Johannesburg Mini Councillor. He had his own big dreams about making a difference. His calling to tzedakkah, and giving to charities and those in need, was evident from a young age.

Isla and Belinda Walt, Dean’s mother, hope to raise R100 000 for children who are fighting life threatening illnesses, to help make their dreams come true. Belinda feels the connection between Dean’s love of life, and how we can all help these children be given a chance to dream. “It’s a foundation of hope, goodness and possibility.” Says Belinda.

Galloway-Gaul is asking for help from the general public to help her raise these much needed funds. “Please help me in celebrating the life of this great young man, by raising funds to help sick children to achieve their DREAM. I wanted to be a part of a cause, that although indeed carries heartache, still believes in the power of dreams. I simply wanted to help Live Dean’s Dream.”
