Wondering

Hello CyberDoc

I do not trust the information provided on websites and would just like to know the following regarding HIV infection...

If one does get symptoms, like rash and flu-like symptoms about a month after infection with the virus, what are the chances of an HIV test showing as positive once the symptoms appeared since it has already got a visible effect on the body and is acting on it?

Thank you.

Dear Worrier
The HIV PCR test (viral load test) will show positive, the antibody tests can however take up to 3 months to become positive ( before the level of antibodies in the blood are high enough to be picked up by the test)
