wondering

dear gynaedoc,

i was wondering if you had any idea with criteria (if any) the clinics use to decide which contraceptive pill to give to someone. i've been using triphasil for 3 yrs & im 26 yrs old. a colleague of mine is of similar age & built but when she recently went on the pill she was given nordette. i've heard people say that triphasil is a much stronger pill so i was just wondering why i wasnt give something else.

hope you can assiste. have a lovely festive season.

Nordette and Triphasil have much the same dose of oestrogen, just that Triphasil has different levels at different times of the cycle, whereas Nordette is the same throughout. Which one you use really depends on your age, medical history and side effect profile. They are both good Pills to start with.

Best wishes
