Why a pap smeer

If you are sexually active, why do you need to have a pap smeer....... following on from "never been to a gynae"

Pap smears are screening tests for cervical cancer. This is very rare if you have never been sexually active, but is not uncommon in sexually active women. The pap smear is designed to detect precancerous cells at a stage when they can be treated.
