White blood count

Would the white blood count in an hiv positive person be continiously elevated, or would it be elevated during the initial infection period only when the infection is recognised by the body.

The White cell count usually goes up if someone has any kind of infection. Because HIV targets white blood cells, it eventually becomes low in HIV patients.
