Our expert says:
Non of the conventional signs of ovulation can be relied upon, and therefore the only definitive proof of ovulation is the visualisation of the egg or a pregnancy itself. All other signs such as temperature changes, ovulation mucous and the billings test which is the stretch ability of the mucous, as well as ovulation detection kits, urine sticks, are all indirect and cannot be totally reliable in confirming ovulation. There are situations where all the ovulation tests are positive and there is actual failure of the release of the egg as in the case of unruptured follicle syndrome and empty follicle syndrome. However this does not mean that ovulation monitoring should not be done and should this be intended the most accurate is the use of the urine LH distinct kit such as clear plan.
