Water and hair growth

Mybaby was born 27weeks and is now 3,5 months. Her hair has started to grow but now it seems as if it is falling out again. She was born full or hair, even on her back. is this still that premie hair falling out. She weighed 1.5kgs at birth but has picked up weight since then, well above the required gains per week. She drinks atleast 125 ml at a time anda littlebit of water sometimes. Can we give her water more often?

Hallo New Dad
That hair on her back is called lanugo. That is hair that protects the baby and will be replaced with normal hair, but on the back for example there may not grow much hair.
Please do not give her any water. If she is breastfed that will have all the water and nutrients she needs. Even with formula she doen not need water. Milk is the only thing your baby need untill she reaches 6 months of age.

Just a quick note to say that the hair will fall out. Friends of ours had twins who were born at 28 weeks, weighing 1.2kg each. The hair took a while to fall out but today they are almost one year old and a whopping 11kg each and they are beautiful. They also struggled to get them into a sleep routine but I think that by 6/7 months they started sleeping through ( from 7/8 until 3-4 in the morning ). Good luck!
