Our expert says:
The use of vitamins and other supplements for fertility is somewhat controversial as there is no scientific evidence to clearly demonstrate benefits. In a patient who is on a well-balanced and adequate diet there is no need for supplementation. However in specific cases of mal-absorptions syndromes or absolute dietary deficiency, there one can recommend the use of supplements, which can be bought over the counter. However the use of folic acid is generally recommended in most cases since it has demonstrated definite advantages in terms of implantation as well as foetal well-being.
