Dear Destry
Thank you for the good wishes and may you also have a wonderful 2009. Salmon oil capsules are not a source of vit D as they usually only contain omega-3 fatty acids. Cod liver oil on the other hand is rich in vitamins A and D, but one must be careful not to take too much because overdoses of these 2 vitamins can also lead to problems (e.g. so-called hypervitaminosis). Nowadays many standard foods are supplemented with vitamin D (for example margarine and milk - check on the labels). Are you confined to your bed? of why can't you sit outside in the sun for half an hour a day? If you are able to move around then make a plan and sit in the sun every day with bare arms and/or legs so that you body can make its own vit D.
Best regards

Cod Liver oil is another option, as it is a source of omega 3 fatty acids, vit. A and D. Too much vit. A may however damage your liver and cause a slight yellow colour in the skin as vit. A has an orange pigment and gets stored in the fat under the skin after too much exposure. But should be safe if you follow recommendations. Salmon Oil does not contain vit. D as far as I know - there may be traces but won' t be a valueble source. Other sources of vit. D however are Caltrate plus for eg. Natural sources of this vitamin are found in fish liver oils, sardines, herring, salmon, tuna, milk and dairy products.
