What is your opinion on the claims of taking 10 000 iu of Vitamin A a day to get gorgeous skin thats free of pigmentation and acne. Are there any harmful effects of taking so much Vit A and does it really make a difference in skin tone?

Dear Vitamin Junkie
If you take so much vitamin A you will develop hypervitaminosis A, a potentially dangerous condition which can cause permanent damage to vital organs like the liver, the skeleton and also your skin! So don't even consider taking so much vit A. Read next week's DietDoc Topic on 'Vitamin supplement - good or bad for you?' Never confuse the retinoids in products like Roaccutane with vitamin A per se.
Take care
