vaginal discharge in puberty

My daughter is 11 years old and has started developing breasts,. Ocassionally she also experiences a yellowish vaginal discharge, with no odour or itching. This comes and goes every 3 -6 months, starting about 9 months ago. Is this part of the hormonal surges of puberty, and what can I tell her about this. Does it mean that the onset of her periods is close?

This is all part of the hormonal changes of puberty. It is not an indication that her periods will start in the next few months though.
