Underweight dog

Hi All

I’ m dealing with a similar dilemma as Georgia (Worried about skinny puppy), however I have an 18 month old female cross breed (Boer-boel / Border Collie).

We have done pretty much the same as Georgia i.e. dewormed her, fed her numerous expensive dog food as well as pet meat and “ bone- meal”  etc. She is currently on Pedigree and has a beautiful coat, is VERY active/happy and good with our kids. Only problem… .we cannot fatten her up. I often watch other Boer-bull owners with much envy hoping that some day our dog would be as attractive and butch as theirs.

As I do not know much about Border Collies, could you kindly advise whether the mixed breed could be the reason for my dog not gaining weight. In every other aspect, she looks healthy.

Thanking you kindly

Venus many 18 month old dogs look very scrawny .. at that age they havent " filled"  out yet and are very active as you say yours is .. as long as they are healthy dont worry.

Border collies arent very " heavy"  dogs because of their high activity level.
