Ulcers on Esophagus

18 year old has ulcers on esophagus according to gastroscopy results - 9 months of treatment and still suffers with heartburn, vomiting an constant nausea - is a second opinion warranted?

If the esophagus is ulcerated even on treatment, the doctor must consider surgery to tighten the upper stomach valve and /or reduce acid production in the stomach. Is he seeing a gastro-enterologist?
