Trying to be healthier

Hi, i have just recently quit smoking completely (at least a pack a day) and now i am experiencing that i want to eat or nibble more than before. i am already a few kilos overweight and do not want that to increase. i am eating 3 fruits a day and a salad made up of cheese, tomatoe, cucumber, onion, lettuce, gherkins and sometimes avo or tuna and 1 teaspoon mayo and 1 teaspoon lite salad dressing about 3 times a week for lunch. i drink about 3 cups of coffee a day and i eat a meal with 1 starch and 1 meat (varying from red & white) almost every night and pasta once a week. sundays i cook 4 veggies, rice and chicken

am i eating healthily? what can i add to help lose weight and what can i nibble to take away cravings and to make sure that i do not pick up any more weight?

Dear Miccy
Congratulations on stopping smoking - this will really make a great difference to your health. If you reduce your energy intake and do plenty of exercise, then this initial gain will stop and after a short while you will get back to your normal weight. I wrote an article on this important subject recently, so click on 'Diet' at the top of this page and then on 'DietDoc's articles' and do a Search for 'Stopping smoking' to read all the tips for overcoming this temporary problem. You are eating healthy food low-fat food, so keep it up but do consider adding some exercise to assist with weight loss and prevent any additional weight gain.
Hang in there
