Tremors

Id like to know what is the cause of head and hand tremors, and what medications reduce or eliminate these tremors? I tend to suffer from these tremors when Im under pressure and when i get nervous/anxious (eg public speaking). Besides relaxation techniques, are there any medications i can take for this and also what is the cause of it? Thanks,

Dear Lindsay
It may just be hereditary, especially if you are young - beta blockers like Inderal may be helpful.
Tremors may also be caused by:
Too much coffee or other caffeinated drinks
Excessive alcohol consumption, alcoholism, or alcohol withdrawal
Stress, anxiety, or fatigue -- these can cause a postural tremor
Normal aging
A variety of drugs and prescription medicines
Low blood sugar
Parkinson's disease -- this is the classic cause of a resting tremor and is often accompanied by slowness of movement, muscle rigidity, and an abnormal way of walking
Multiple sclerosis -- can cause an intention tremor - a tremor that happens when you want to do something requiring fine coordination
Over active thyroid
