toenail problems

i have been suffering from a toenial infection . the toenail has tuned completly black and does not grow properly it seems the nail grows and leaves a hollow in the nail so the nail grown separate from the flesh and now it is a hollow under the toenail

what should i doe is there any medication that i should use to bring my toenail bach to its right colour and how do i get rid of the infection. this is going on for about a year and i have been to the chemist for treatment but no help

You may have a fungal infection of the nail and may need to have some scrapings sent away to identify the fungus so that they can give you the right medicine - your GP can do that. You will have to take long term treatment ( 3-6 mo)
