The use of mass builder such as Build-up by athletes

I was wondering what peoples thoughts are on the use of mass builders by athletes are they a good or a bad thing.

Seeing that most South Africans who eat a western diet tend to eat more protein than we require, it is really not necessary to use extra protein supplements when building muscle. Use of carbohydrates can promote muscle buildup too because they are 'protein-sparing', so you can consider increasing your intake of carbs instead and just stick to a normal diet while you exercise.
