Our expert says:
The 3 basic tests for fertility would involve hormonal tests, a sperm analysis and to assess the patency of the fallopian tubes. Blood tests to ascertain hormonal functions would cost approximately R1000. Semen analysis would cost anything between R600 – 1000. To ascertain patency of the fallopian tubes one would require a Hysterosalpingogram (HSG) that would cost approximately between R1000 –2000 depending on where it is done. These tests can be done at the GP or by a gynaecologist.
