taking probiotics if lactose intolerant

hi doc,

i just want to know if i am able to take probiotics if i am lactose intolerant? would it benefit me in any way?

Dear Mikki
You can use probiotics that contain bacteria such as Bifidobacterium if you are lactose intolerant (e.g. Bifidoforte or Bifidoflora which you can buy at health shops). Although probiotics will not alter your lactose intolerance, they do have many health benefits.
