Lynda, as far as I know, 1 tablespoon of white sugar (12g) equals 188kJ. Beer (340ml) = 652kJ (3.5 tsp sugar), dry white wine (120ml) = 420kJ (2.2 tsp sugar), sweet wine (120ml) = 840kJ (4.5 tsp sugar) and spirits (12ml) = 320kJ (1.7 tsp sugar). Good luck.

I am diabetic and monitor my blood sugar. I cannot tell you how many teaspoons of sugar there are in wine, beer or whiskey, but there certainly must be huge amounts because it sends my glucose levels thru the roof, everytime!
