Our expert says:
Excessive daytime sleepiness is caused, essentially, by one of two things: either you are not having enough time asleep, or else your quality of sleep is not good.
If you are having 7 1/2 to 8 hours asleep, then it is not the quantity which is an issue. Then there must be a problem with the quality of your sleep.
You will need a sleep test to determine what sort of sleep quality you are getting - in other words, what is it which is giving you bad sleep quality. Once that has been worked out, a sleep doctor will be able to get you onto treatment to correct the problem.
